How we project ourselves is how the world sees us. We can do anything we set our minds on and have a positive effect on people when we are confident in ourselves. But having self confidence is not always a part of who we are. It is sometimes developed. And one of the ways to do that is by working out.
One way of improving your self esteem thorugh workout is chemical. Working out causes our body to release hormones that affect many things in our body including our mood. The hormone responsible for that is endorphin. Endorphin simply helps you with feeling better and giving you a great mood. You stay positive about almost anything, including yourself, when you are in a good mood. Endorphins also help you get better sleep and they act as painkillers. Exercise also helps fight stress. You feel better when you are able to handle stress because you feel that you are in control of your life and not the other way around.
Other than this, exercise helps you gain self confidence through the results you get when you workout. Losing those unwanted pounds and getting fit are more than enough to give you a self esteem boost. Remember that scene in Spiderman when he took off his shirt in front of the mirror and he noticed how buff he was? Yes, that was one quick jolt of self confidence. Exercise can actually help improve your complexion because it promotes good blood circulation. You get a rosy complexion when you have a better circulation. With these 2 together, you basically look a lot better and when you look good, you feel good too.
You have to take note though that even with exercise, there will be other things in your life that can hinder a confidence boost and it is up to you to find that positivity to break through it. There are people who use exercise as an outlet for their frustration and you can do the same. Running and aerobics are a couple of exercises that may suit that. Exercise teaches discipline that can infect other aspects of your life as well. Discispline gives you more control over your life and that gives you a boost on your self esteem. Make sure that you keep a regular exercise schedule and work on it gradually. Don’t set a goal that would be too hard for you to achieve. Set a workout schedule that you can easily fit in your schedule and based on your ability like running and weightlifting 3 to 4 times a week. Setting the bar too high for yourself can lead to disappointment if you don’t reach that goal and that can damage your self esteem. If you’re aiming to get a boost of self esteem, why not join classes or have friends join you when working out.
Boosting yourself esteem starts from yourself. Any positive influence from other people will not work if you don’t feel the way they do. So get up, get a good workout and get your self esteem.
